5. RaRa Look 3
These tutorials featuring model RaRa, a long time muse of Peters, were shot around our hometown city, Melbourne. Peter discusses the lighting that he uses at night time, the cameras he will use, how he sets his cameras up, how he shoots them, plus a ‘fly-on’the-wall’ perspective on how he shoots on location. You get to see everything from start-to-end, and how easy it is to do it yourself!
All still photos are non-retouched, straight out of camera.
Special thanks to our stylist, Shiori, and assistant Damon.
Camera: Sony a7rii & Hasselblad X1D
Lenses: Zeiss Otus 28mm f1.4
Lighting: Rotolight Neo 2 & Profoto A1

Does Peter always shoot horizontal? I can’t recall seeing him shoot anything vertical, obviously the square format is what it is, but in the 35mm format. If the client needs a vertical shot, does he just crop it that way? Thanks!
Yes I do except on some commercial work, your eyes look at the world in landscape not portrait
loved seeing this shoot.
Peter I was just wondering did you require a permit to shoot at flinders street station ?
Thanks heaps, it was a fun shoot to do. Legally yes for big commercial shoots you need a permit, but for something smaller like this where we can run & gun it getting a permit is time consuming and you need to have safe officers etc. If you can minimise the amount of people and gear you have to keep it not looking professional, you’ll usually be fine.
