Tahan is an influencer who from time to time gives Peter a call to help with the content for her social media accounts, this shoot should have been one of their typical ‘insta fashion’ shoots but the stylist supplied by Tahan decided it was his shoot not Peter’s, which dragged the shoot out & made it much more complicated than it needed to be.

Regardless of entertainment value, I think this shoot was a very valuable watch. I hate photo-gurus that just sell dreams to the gullible. Thanks for keeping it real with us.
Without getting too gear reviewy, would you someday be interested in sharing your thoughts on using the A1 and its modifiers?

Hi Peter, I’ve got two questions:
1. Do you use the flash in TTL or manual mode?
2. Whats about retouching? I guess only minimal basics, maybe exposure, crop, …

Hi Mario, I was using the flash in manual as I always do. There was pretty much no retouching on the final shots, I did a little raw work but that was it as Tahan didn’t want them to look super professional.

Awesome tutorial and just what I need help with. because I also have an influencer client who can be demanding, fast paced and nonstop. How do control a shoot when client rushes so much? Please share with us the info on flash modifier. Thank You Peter. Cheers.

Thanks heaps Frank, glad the tutorial helped you. It’s hard with demanding fast paced clients, if I have a client who is rushing, I tend to start rushing myself. They’re trying getting a lot done in a short amount of time because time is money, but normally I find I’m rushing them with the ‘come on we got the shot, next’
The flash modifier is just what comes with the Profoto A1. Cheers 🙂
The new “talent” is always interesting, things that were not considered good, ie..shooting down angle, very mannequin posing and not looking professional always seems maddening to shoot. As I watched, I felt your pain and my thoughts were, just get through this shoot…pay me today, with an app…thank you very much.

It was a very interesting tutorial. It helps people to see, what the young people want to achieve. I believe it’s somehow far from really good pictures, but people love it.
It was also nice to see Peter out of his confort zone and handled it like a PRO. 🙂
But I loved the last sentence of Peter … “Hopefully you enjoyed, because I didn’t.” 😀 😀 hahaha
The new insta way of the world is so not fashion but it’s what they want 🙂

I’m doing some shoots for local clothes shops over here and using Off Camera flash with umbrelas, tethering, etc… I think I need be more like you and change the mindset for that.
I’m feel so bad for you at your outro. You kept it professional, but I could tell you weren’t happy…you weren’t talking to the model like you do in your other videos. There was a lack of warmth. (I get the same way if I’m pissed off. I stop talking because I might say something I’ll regret.) No chat about the models likes or her pets or things that made her emotional. I’m sure it will be all different in part 2 . Can’t wait to see it (of course post-lockdown)!
Thanks heaps, the reason I wasn’t talking to Tahan like on my usual shoots is because there is no emotion in these types of shots, it’s just a mannequin wearing clothes pretending they’re going somewhere important. Will try get part 2 up ASAP 🙂
