1 Light High-Key Beauty
This series of tutorials covers all the different types of High-Key Lighting Peter uses.
Camera: Hasselblad H6D-50c
Lighting:
-1st look: Profoto D1 with 1.5 umbrella and soft diffuser (also known as a ’sock’ diffuser). V-boards (polystyrene boards tapes together, 1 side painted black). Lights behind V-boards are Broncolor Pluso
-2nd Look: Broncolor Pluso light with P70 reflector
-3rd Look: Broncolor Pluso light with P70 reflector
-4th look: Broncolor Siro head lighting background (we used a Scrim) with Natural Light

Peter – what causes soft focus and how can you avoid.
I’m never sure if it’s the camera or lens (fine tune auto focus)
This was a great tutorial explaining how easy high key lighting can be
Most of the time soft focus is caused by ether the model or the photographer moving closer or further away between the time the focus button was clicked and the exposure was taken. At f/2.8 on a 85mm lens and 1 meter distance between the camera and the model you only have about 5mm depth of focus.

When would decide using a reflector versus a beauty dish
They’re going to supply a different type of light and shadow and if i wasn’t sure what to do I would try both and then decide which was giving more of the look I was after
