Image Selection

We have been wanting to do a ‘trashy’ kitchen shoot for ages now, but have never found the right kitchen to do one, until we got to Paris this year! I picked a bunch and posted them on my Instagram, and this tutorial is Peter and myself going through the shoot and looking at the photos I picked out vs what Peter would have picked.

I know you didn’t ask, but: As a way to maybe improve the “stupid program” if you want to be able to rank multiple pics at the same time in the film strip, you need to be in Grid View. If you’re doing it in Loupe View, you have to turn on Auto Sync, and that will allow you to bulk update star ratings using the film strip with multiples selected while only viewing the single image.

You both brought up an interesting topic in the beginning of the video that you joked about a little but is something I encounter from time to time and would like to hear your thoughts on this. Models who want a different editing style to their images, usually to fit some instagram feed aesthetic. You both select your images, edit them, they like the edit but also want something for social media which is different than how you edited and at times, wildly different. Really heavy shadows, or blown out highlights, etc. things you intentionally avoid as a photographer. How do you handle this? I don’t care about them having the images, but I also don’t want someone to see it and think it’s representative of me. Do you give it and tell them dont attribute it to me? refuse?

    • Hi Chris, you need to come to an agreement at the start of the shoot, if the model is happy to shoot with you but they want a certain look then have an agreement that you will edit a photo how they want but to not credit you. Or you say at the start ‘no sorry this is my look and thats how I will be editing the images’
