Mentor Session With Craig Wetjen
Peter has been friends with Craig for over 20 years, they met a long time ago through the Australian Institute for Professional Photographers They caught up and instead of Peter mentoring Craig, he wanted to talk to someone for you to see at all the changes he has gone through in his photographic career and the passion he has, hopefully showing you that where you are in your photographic career now may not be where you will end up.
This will be a on going series with other professionals Peter has gotten to know over the years.

Many thanks Craig (and Peter and Bec) for this excellent idea of sharing your photography journey. Very moving hear your talk, from you that have certainly “walked the walk”.
As a beginner photographer thats heading to university in spring 2026, this was very insightful. Learn from others, but don’t sacrifice your artistic vision. Teachers are human, not the final authority . Take what they can teach and learn from them, but dont get brainwashed by their wishes for your style.
I’m so glad that I have the smarts to seek mentors that have similar artistic visions as I do and who is doing what I want to do, and learn from them too. Thank you Peter, looking forward to what I can learn from you to enhance my skills while I’m in school.
