Anne Naked in NYC
We always get excited when we get to meet up with some of our favourites when travelling, and were lucky enough on our USA tour that Anne was in NYC at the same time as us! This tutorial is a bit fly-on-the-wall style of Peter and Anne shooting her nude in Times Square. It was challenging to get the lighting right to have Anne exposed and also have detail in the background, but Peter got his exposure first before Anne took her top off. She also did her homework before this shoot and asked a cop what the laws were about nudity and being topless is completely fine, although we were still very cautious of onlookers.

Pretty amazing nobody around really seemed to care. That’s New York for you.
Inspiring video. I do Naked in the Streets a couple times a year here in Chicago, where topless/nude is not legal. I try to avoid too many people, but I have learned that most people are oblivious to what’s going on and almost everyone who notices doesn’t care.
Yeah I’ve found most people are oblivious too, especially doing this shoot in busy times square
Brilliant.
I can only guess the reaction if I tried this in sleepy Cheshire, UK
Amazing work Peter, Anne and Bec. This was so surreal just like the John Wick movies Lots of action was happening in public, yet everyone was walking around as if nothing was going on! Certainly made for a series of fascinating images.
Thanks heaps
So much fun, and great pictures 🙂 New York seems like a cool place…
Is there a list of cities where you would be comfortable trying this kind of shoot?
BR, Uwe
Thanks so much. Nah I don’t have a list of cities, if and when the occasion arises I just do it
Street Naked, love it. The Leica seemed to sing too.
Yes the Leica was at home in the streets
These are the kind of shots that scream for a 50mm or 35mm! Do you remember what you used here, Peter?
Yes the Leica Summilux-M 1:1.4/35 ASPH
Fantastic!!!
Magnificent video. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and I’ve taken my first tentative steps towards it. But having this as a “guide” of sorts and even just a view into what the experience is like is invaluable.
The dream team, stunning images are a given result when Anne, Peter and Bec work together.
I really appreciate your doing this, Peter. Shooting nudes in a public space scares the %$#@ out of me. But here, hardly anyone notices, and you got killer shots. Thanks!
Thanks heaps
These shoots are always fun! in case you are not familiar with him, there’s a photographer named Gary Breckheimer who has been shooting nude street art in NYC for over 20 years. You might enjoy checking him out on Instagram @GaryBreckheimer.
I shot a model literally one week prior to attending the Chicago workshop at that exact pair of food trucks, lol. It was the last day I was in NYC for Fashion Week.
What a coincidence
Peter/Anne… welcome to my home. You caught the essence of oblivion of some (Manhattan) New Yorkers… DUMBO brooklyn and Bridge could be interesting on your next foray here. [Kristen Liebrand pulled it off a few years ago] cheers and happy spring to you down under
In NYC the people walking in the street donot seem to comment.
the taxi driver will comment ‘ beautiful” for topless nude. ‘Great Photos
Peter and Anne !!
