Beach Shoot At Night Pt 2
We receive lots of requests so show how Peter shoots with flash at night time, and luckily we are in the middle of summer in Australia so it is finally warm enough to do a night time shoot. Peter’s approach to shooting with flash at night is fairly simple, and once he has his settings, that is it for the rest of the night.

So much appreciated that you do the shoot with us in mind and we get to see the results of your collaboration and dialogue with your team and especially with all the models you shoot with!
No worries, we’re gunna try and do a few more fly-on-the-wall style shoots so you can just watch & hear how I work
Inspire is such a perfect name for this site! Inspired again unfortunately here in the US is still winter. Thanks guys great job!
Awesome Chris, thanks so much 🙂 hopefully it warms up soon in the US
Love watching you work Peter. Have you got the link for the the flash to camera bracket please?
Thanks heaps, sure here’s the link https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1431561-REG/vello_mfb_12_mini_flash_bracket.html
I’ve been studying your tutorials for a couple of years now, trying to understand how you work with models and how you use your equipment. At first I saw your great studio, super high-end cameras and lenses and thought “well, if I had that studio, I could do better, too.”
That may be true, but that’s not really it. It’s not so much the great equipment, but the precise way you use it. Using one light (as in this video) or even natural light (as. in other videos) you spend a lot of time up front getting the light to fall on the model just right, moving the model, the light, the camera settings, any reflectors etc, until they are just right.
I need to get better at this. Slow down, get the light right, and be in less of a hurry to start shooting.
Thanks for sharing your work and knowledge.
100% it’s not about the gear at all. I take forever setting up, Anne, a model I’ve worked with a lot, says I am the slowest photographer she has ever worked with. It’s definitely worth taking an extra 15minutes to tweak the lights slightly, even just to see if it is better or worse, to see if you could have gotten a better light.
